first day of trout

Saturday the 29th of March was opening day of Trout. Owen and Carter spent the night with Nanna & Pappy and they were able to go fishing with Pap and Uncle Nunner! When Jason and I went to pick them up in the afternoon Owen was beaming. He had caught a fish.. So did Carter! Uncle Nunner was nice enough to clean the fish and Owen insisted that we have fish for dinner. Yuck!! I hate fish. So Jason brought the fish home and grilled on his new grill (it is an early father's day gift form me and the children). Carter does not like fish!! it is yucky. Owen ate it but I don't think it was his favorite. He does like salmon, though!

lunch at Pizza Hut

Carter is doing book-it in his Pre-K class and he qualified for his free pizza hut personal pizza.. He came home yesterday demanding that we go to pizza hut! So we called Nanna and Pap and asked them out for lunch . We went today and had a grand time. We all got the buffet and Carter a lil cheese pizza... and Callie ate some cinnamon bread sticks. She couldn't get enough of them!

the trials of a raising an ADHD child

About 3 months ago Owen was finally diagnosed with having ADHD! I knew in my heart ever since he was a toddler that he had it... However I could never get anywhere when i mentioned it to the Doctor or to his teachers. They would say he is just a boy! Yes he is a boy but they didn't see what i saw on a daily basis or have to deal with his behavior. It was a chore to go anywhere with him. He liked to "explore" way too much. And with him being our first we really didn't know how much was normal! Then Carter came along and he was so much more mellow.
It was a blow to have him diagnosed with this disorder but it could be worse, right? We are very thankful for being able to have him finally diagnosed and now we are learning that there is so much we were doing wrong with him... like how we were punishing him.. what we expected out of him... and how he got things accomplished! We cannot just tell Owen to go clean his room. We have to be more specific and give him one thing at a time to do, like..pick up all of your cars, then when he is finished with that then we can go to the next thing.. pick up all the clothes on the floor and put them in the hamper, and so on! It does become very frustrating as a parent to deal with. He is very hard-headed to begin with(Mom says he gets that from me)so this just seems to add to it! I love the booger just the way he is and wouldn't want him any other way! When I talked to the Doctor about my options we decided to go with medication, however I didn't want Owen to lose his spark! I just wanted him to be a tad bit more able to concentrate! So far we have been able to achieve that! He is doing so much better in school! He is able to focus and keep his natural urge of outburst under control! That is what are goal was... He doesn't really fully grasp the whole picture on this. He knows he takes medication to help and wonders at times for how long and if he will ever be able to stop. He also keeps this his secret to his friends. I guess he doesn't want them to think any less of him. He is such a caring and lovable boy. I hope he is able to keep those qualities throughout his life!!!

my baby is getting too big..lol

Callie is forever doing domething new... She now plays pat-a-cake and can "roll it up".... which is way toooo cute!! She is standing on her own for brief moments.. loves walking if you hold her hands.She still isn't sleeping through the night.. Most times I feel like she sleeps worse than a newborn! I am very grateful though that Jason takes the weekend duty for me, so I at least get some rest! Of course she is still toothless. She was running a fever last week for 3 days and the Pediatrician told me she was teething.. well I wanna know where her tooth is then??? I say she is gonna be toothless until she is a year old.. How odd would that be?

Callie's 8 month well baby visit

Callie had her 8 month check- up today.. she is growing very fast on me...lol
She got a shot(prevnar) and the oral vaccine for rotavirus. Plus she got her finger pricked for an iron check... All is well! She grew and inch and gained almost a pound. She now weighs 16lbs. 8 oz.. yep she is a daity lil flower just like her Aunts on her daddy's side. However she has got her big brother and Momma's noggin.. its nice and round and big!!! She doesn't have to go back until she is a year old. I know how that will work, though. She will get sick inbetween now and then..(I pray not)

Carter.....

Well what is new with him... he has many A.K.A.'s... JJ Pruit.... Car~turd.... Tarter Sauce.... my baby boy.. Mr.C...Hoodrow(because he has to wear his hoodie up all the time)... oh and Bubbie.
He is in pre~school 5 days a week from 8.35 -11.00!! The school is at Owen's elementray school. He loves going there. The program is called pre-K counts and is funded by the state! He has a vivid imagination. He love dinosaurs and aggervating Owen. He is a whiner & has a major 3 yr. old attitude problem ! He loves to snuggle and tell me that I am his favorite mommy! To that I reply that he is my favorite Carter. He also has a little sister who adores him to no end!! She will attach him with kisses!

Owen's thumb

So about 2.5 weeks ago Owen stabbed himself in the thumb with a saftey pin. A couple days later he was complaining that his thumb hurt really bad.. well I told him that he shouldnt have stabbed himself. Well a day later(Monday the 4th) the school nurse called me to tell me that Owen's thumb was really infected and that the infection was traveling up his arm. I took him to the Dr. that afternoon and I guess if I would have waited another day(which I planned on because he had a scheduled Dr. appointment on Tues.) he would have been put in the hospital. The Dr. put him on 2 antibiotics... 1 was for more resistant strans of bacteria. The blue marks in the photos are from where the Dr. "mapped" out his infection lines... I guess God sends angels in all forms..In this case it was Mrs. Grieve the school nurse!!

callie is growing to fast...

Tomorrow my baby girl turns 8 mths old.. It is hard for me to believe. She is a very busy lil girl, just like her big brother Owen. She is crawling like an ol' pro, pulling herself up to furniture, and learning how to do the furniture cruise. Yesterday I found her on a step. So add that to her list of new accomplishments. She still doesnt have any teeth. I cant wait until she gets her 1st one.
